How to Reach Genoa
Getting to Genoa is very easy: the city airport Cristoforo Colombo is located in Sestri Ponente and it is just 20 minutes away from the city downtown.. The maritime stations connect Genoa to the main ports of the Mediterranean Sea. The railway lines are the most comfortable and effective way not only to reach the Ligurian city, but also to move around it: in fact, its railway branches cross the Genoese territory from West to the East. Last but not least, four highways that allow you to reach Genoa by car: A12, A10, A26 and A7.
Cristoforo Colombo Airport
Genoa’s Cristoforo Colombo Airport provides daily flights from many major European Cities:

From Pisa Airport

From Turin Airport
Turin Airport also known as Turin-Caselle Airport, is an airport located at Caselle Torinese, 16 km north-northwest of the city of Turin, in the Metropolitan City of Turin.
The airport is connected by rail to the city of Turin by the Torino-Ceres Railway, as line A of Turin metropolitan railway service and by shuttle bus.
From Nice Airport
Nice Côte d’Azur Airport is an international airport located 5.9 km southwest of Nice, in the Alpes-Maritimes départment of France.
The airport is located on the western end of the Promenade des Anglais. Buses go between the airport and the Gare de Nice-Ville railway station (route 99) and Nice-Riquier railway station (route 98). The train station Nice-Saint-Augustin is near the airport (15 minutes by foot). Currently under development is a second Tram line that will connect the Airport to the center of Nice at Place Masséna.
Airport to City centre by Volabus
Volabus service connects Genova Brignole railway station, city center (De Ferrari square) and Genova Principe railway station to Genoa Airport. The cost of the ride is 6 euros per person. Volabus service is regularly circulating, but delays are not excluded due to possible traffic congestion. It is recommended to leave well in advance.

Airport to City centre by train
Both from the west and from the east it is possible to use the train to reach the “Genova Sestri Aeroporto” station, then continue using the AMT i24 service 1,60€ and the “SP special shuttle bus” service (free). Genoa Airport to City centre by free shuttle service (temporary due to the collapsing event on the Morandi bridge)
Airport to City center by free bus service between Principe Station and Genoa Airport AMT and the Municipality of Genoa, in order to easy the mobility of citizens, started an additional special bus service between Genova Piazza Principe Station to Sestri Ponente (Via Hermada), with transit, in both directions, to Cristoforo Colombo Airport (Arrivals area, ground floor). The service is called “SP special shuttle bus”. The service is available from 6.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m and is carried out for free.
How to reach Genoa Airport by car
– From the city center you can reach the airport via Guido Rossa or, alternatively, by the urban road system of Sampierdarena and Cornigliano.
– For those arriving from western Liguria: A10 motorway to the “Genova Aeroporto” exit.
– For those arriving from Piedmont and Lombardy, it is advisable to use the A26 motorway to the junction with the A10 (Prà), then continue in the direction of “Genova Aeroporto” exit.
– The situation is more critical for those coming from the eastern part of the region, due to the interruption of the A10 motorway between Genova Ovest / junction between A7 and A10 and the tollgate of Genova Aeroporto. For those using the A12 motorway it is possible to exit at Genoa Nervi, Genova Est or Genova Ovest, then to continue towards the airport via urban road.
Genoa’s Ferry Terminals for cruise ship traffic, Ponte dei Mille and Ponte Andrea Doria, are located just a few minutes from both the Genova Piazza Principe railway station and the Old Port, the city’s main tourist area, nestling within the historic center.
Not far from the Cruise Terminal, there are Terminal di Calata Chiappella, Ponte Caracciolo e Ponte Colombo, designed as Ferry Terminal.
At the Ferry Terminal, ships arrive from and depart for the main ports of the Mediterranean: Olbia, Porto Torres, Palermo, Barcelona, Bastia, Tunis and Tangier.
The taxi service in Genoa is managed by the Radio Taxi cooperative. The parking lots are located in different parts of the city including the Railway Stations, the airport and the Maritime Stations.

The main Genoese train stations are Genova Piazza Principe and Genova Brignole and they are regularly operating.
Genoa is home to a unique branch of the railway network, unwinding over East-West routes and inland tracks that connect to Northern Europe.
The city’s central stations are Genova Piazza Principe – Piazza Acquaverde 4 (the main departure/arrival point to and from the North and West) and Genova Brignole – Piazza Verdi 1 (the main departure/arrival point for connections to the East and South).
Genoa is also daily connected by direct Thello trains to the South of France; arrivals and departures from/to Monte Carlo, Nice, Antibes, Cannes, Saint-Raphael, Toulon, Marseille, without border train changes.

The A10 motorway is interrupted between the toll gate of Genova Aeroporto and the toll gate of Genova Ovest.
For those arriving from the East there are no changes, the A12 motorway is regularly open in the toll gate of Genoa Nervi and Genova Est.
For those arriving from Milan, the indication is to use the A7 motorway with exit at Genova Ovest, and then follow the signs for the center.
For those arriving from the west the A10 motorway is interrupted. It is necessary to exit at the Genoa Airport toll gate and continue on the city road, following the signs for the center.
It is also possible to exit at the Genoa Pra’ toll and then use the train service, which has been upgraded.

Four motorways connect the city to the national network at different points.

Genoa car parks
Parking in Genoa’s downtown is very difficult. Downtown (Centro Storico) has just a small parking capacity and the ZTL (Restricted area) in the inner city makes it not easy for visitors. Visitors can park in the area adjacent to Centro Storico.
Genoa’s restricted areas (ZTL)
The inner city is a restricted area (ZTL, Zona a Traffico Limitato) where driving through and parking is prohibited for vehicles of non-residents. The LTZ is active permanently and controlled by video cameras. Visitors are advised to park in the city’s public car parks outside the ZTL.
